Day77 suddenly its 6am and we are still sitting and playing card games so we decide to get some sleep and finish the game after some sleep. One by one we wake up again and continue over a late breakfast and the winner is Frida, congratulations! Now it’s time to get going again so they all take me down to the river and waves me goodbye!
I wish I cud stay longer but I need to explore a little more! It’s close to 9pm by the time I start kayaking, the sun is going down behind the mountains but it’s still more than enough light for kayaking down the magical fjord. It’s relaxing following the tides out but as I exit the ford by the bridge at Kjellingstraumen.
Suddenly I have winds and waves from the west and I’m now heading west. I get myself to a safe spot so I can get properly dressed and get back in the wind! It’s hard but I continue to a pier I have seen on the map. I get in here a little passed midnight and it’s a small after party at the boat and I’m invited. I end up taking to some sailors and I’m offered a bead to sleep in for the night zzzzz I accepted zzzzzz
Distance for the day 14,5 nautical miles, trash in water x1 and on land x0
Day78 After a good night sleep I wake up in a strange sailboat and breakfast is ready, we eat and take before I once again pack down the equipment, say my thanks and goodbyes. Once again I set course for Bodø. I make my way out of the fjord from Nygaard and over to the cape where the airport is and turn the corner and I’m in Bodø. Its windy and a thick fog over me so I stay in town for a while just chilling and enjoying the sun that is on the one side while the fog is on the other side. While relaxing I meet a nice bicycle trio from France on their way to North Cape, bon voyage!
It’s not until 9pm when the weather I good enough for kayaking but now it is super! I kayak my way passed Fenes and keep my course on karlsøyvær until I get to my recommended campsite for the night Kjerringøy,
I kayak my way into a beautiful sandy beach just before 4am I set up my camp and fall asleep. It was a magical sunset and sunrise with wales coming up from time to time.
Distance for the day 30,4 nautical miles, trash in water x0 and on land x0
Day79 I wake up to kids running around screaming in my hot tent, I get out and I think this will be the day I will go for a morning swim, but I stop when the cold water hits my balls. I return in shame! After some food and packing my kayak I am on my way again but just over to the restaurant by the port.
Where I charge while I do some editing. As soon as I got power I am back in the kayak and the sun, I make my way north and on the first crossing is perfect, no wind and glass water but as I cross the corner and start my next crossing I get winds from the north east of 7ms! I’m struggling but going forward, some of the locals get in the boat and head on with corse for me and screams are you OK? And I answer that I got this under control it’s just hard! They follow me for some minutes before they head on back to their cabin, Thank you for caring! I make it into a small sandy bay where I meet a biker from the Netherlands, I set up my tent next to his and we have a good conversation while we enjoy the beautiful sunset zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Distance for the day 12,8 nautical miles, trash in water x0 and on land x0
Day80 It is amazing what you can do in 80 days! I have seen more whales in this 80 days then I have in my entire life! I have seen more of Norway in 80 days then the rest of my life, Longest kayaking in my life, and the views! WOW! Longest time tenting in my life and so on and so on and all the people I have meet! Old friends that I haven’t seen in years and new amazing people that I have learned admire! I have also almost died 10 times! And all of them have been due to people trying to kill me with their boats and none due to nature! Thank you all for being there for me on the way! I get so much support messages from known and unknown! It’s an amazing feeling when people tell me I am an inspiration, crazy, legend and all the other nicknames! Lots of Love!
Once again I wake up in a tent that is too warm to stay in, I love it! My new friend is already packing down his equipment, I take it slow it’s going to be windy for the next days, up to 12ms so I have decided to do a lot of short bursts. First burst I only 2nm to a nice restaurant at
where I eat, charge and edit while I wait for the wind to calm down.
The winds never calmed down so at 8pm I decide to go for it, the wind is coming straight at me at 9m/s and it’s a 3nm crossing over the fjord. There are people that ask me if I’m really crossing in this winds, I say yes and assure them I know what I am doing and that I will turn back if it gets to bad. The crossing goes fine and I am over in just an hour, I find myself a nice beach for lunch and then I am back in my kayak.
I manage to make a detour because I forgot to double check depth and during the low tide I have now it is not possible to cross so I make my way back and at midnight I find a nice beach Grøtøy where I make camp for the night zzzzzzzzzzz
Distance for the day 10,7 nautical miles, trash in water x0 and on land x 10 liter+
