Part four, Stopped by wind and saving lifes

Oppdatert: 6. mars 2020

Still on day 15 and after I’m done editing the last post at Sjøhuset I’m off again and the wind is still coming straight at me so it’s going slow and I also make a quick detour by Bragdøya before exiting Kristiansand but due to a late start I don’t make it longer than Saadøya outside of Hølen where I see a nice place to set up tent as the sun is starting to go down over the horizon. My camp for the day is a little plain that goes between two mountains and after setting up camp I make the climb up one side and take some photos. Then I make it in to my tent again as its getting dark.

At day 16 I’m up before the sun and climb up the other side just in time to see the sun come up and after enjoying the view for a while then I climb my way back down again and pack up camp. The day starts amazing glass water and no wind so I take off my shirt and enjoy the sun on my skin but this do not last for long, suddenly the wind is going up to 10ms and I get my ass inn to land so I can put on my dry suite again, I’m so cold by the time I make it inn to! And after getting some heat back I’m out in the wind and waves again and I fight my way inn to the sandy beaches of Mandal, cold and tiered I just get my sleeping bag out of the kayak and get in there with all dry suite on and after some minutes I’m dreaming about warm beaches zzzzzz until some hysteric woman thinks I’m ling there dead on the beach and after thanking her for caring I went back to sleep for an hours’ time.

When I wake up I pack down the most important and go into town where I get some coffee and charge my batteries before I do some food shopping. After talking to the locals im informed that I can’t camp on the beach but if I just kayak over to Aspholmen its no problem. The only problem is to get there, winds are well over 10 ms now more like 15ms and after a hard struggle I barely make it over. I make camp mad hope that the wind will calm down. During the day a small boat tries to get off the island I stay at but the wind gets them and drags them to the beach so I run over and push them out of the beach.

The winds do not calm down! It’s now at 17ms and its testing my tent! So I stay in the tent for day 17 and don’t really do much other than thinking.

Day18 the winds are a little calmer but still blowing at 10 ms so I go back to town for some shopping, the thing is that when you have nothing to do you eat a lot! And now I make it all the way to Spangereid where the channel goes on the inside of Lindesnes, there is now way I’m turning Lindesnes lighthouse in this wind! At Baaly I spot a Thai restaurant, here I find my favorite Thai dish Panang, I can’t resist the temptation! It’s almost as good as in Thailand! Thank you for good food and service! The sun is on its way down so I kayak into the beautiful fjords behind Lindesnes! Amazing scenery! High mountains that goes straight down into the water and green trees all over them. Amazing! It’s not easy to find a good place to camp here but right by Kittelnes I find a spot of grass that will due, so the normal routine, camp up and sleep.

In the morning I wake up early by the winds trying to rip up my tent, and one time I have to go out and fasten it again, too much wind and an headache stops me from kayaking on day 19 but when the winds calms down a little I get my ass out of the tent and clean the beach, it’s a stone beach maybe 10m in length and I fill up a hole trash bag before I’m happy. Here there are layers of trash almost like lines in the tree, and at the bottom the plastic is falling apart to micro plastic particles when I try to pick it. And as the wind picks up I’m back in my tent zzzzzzzz.

And please people get out in the Nature and help me keep it clean! It’s a good feeling knowing you left a place better then you found it and you might end up saving some lives in the proses!

if you want to make the world a better place take a look at yourself and make a change! MJ

Day20 is cold but a little less wind then yesterday so I pack up camp and head out kayaking but as I make it closer to Kongshavn the wind is back and I’m barely moving forward so I have a short break and give all my power passing under the bridge before I get to Kongshavn. I’m welcomed by a nice lady and she recommends the local pub Korshamn that opens soon but I can just go and sit down. And as I go by the grocery store next to it I learn that it’s the same guy running both.

I get some snack and coffee, enjoy the sun and wright this part while I charge up.

When you spend more than 24h in a tent alone 2 of 3 days your mind will go wild! You think about everything from life to death and I want to Tank all the people in my life! From you that have been there my whole life to the man random I just meet for some minutes! Thank you for letting me be me!

The only problem with Ymir from Norse is that is stops going forward when you have head winds of 15ms.

See where I am on

Thank you for reading!

Lots of Love
